I do not have a problem with the “60%” wording. It’s more accurate and in some cases, larger than “majority”. Complaining about that just feels like trying to be angry because you want to be angry.
I have a problem with the fact that the top maybe 1% (I don’t know the exact number, could be less than 1 even) owns more than the rest in total.
People should be angry
Be angry at the right things then. This person’s post is basically being angry that someone agreed with them but used slightly different words to do it.
It’s counterproductive.
They certainly generate enough money. But most of it ends up with the top 1%
The Media: “Work harder and no $7 lattés!”
$105411, a household income in the top 10th percentile globally, isn’t enough to afford minimal quality of life?
A lot of labor activists and socialists have some actually unhinged, unsustainable, and downright incredibly privileged ideas of what every single house hold in a country should have/be able to afford, from what I’ve noticed. Which can sometimes shoot in the foot of being able to actually reach more reasonable targets
Do people post reply’s, then screen cap it, and share their reply to everywhere?
I hope that one day internet culture collectively shames this practice out of existence.
It’s not even a good zinger. It’s just an ad for their social media page. Remember to like and subscribe.
yes

“The bottom 60%” gives more detail than merely saying “the majority”.
Yeah but then the person who replied couldn’t advertise their social media page with the screenshot they took

This reminded me of the guy who shared on his socials that he scored so high on his IQ test, he was the “top 90% of all participants”.
And now he even has his very own platform!
Forest Gump from Temu
When was this posted? Why are you always cutting the dates off your posts?
im reposting from reddit. I think original guy cut off dates not me
America is a country for only richwhitemen. Everyone else is just fodder.
Dont need to racialize it. Plenty of rich PoS PoC
It’s already racialized. About few hundred years too late to avoid that.

Jensen Huang up there repping Asians
So we can only assume that user I replied to thinks 1 is “plenty”.
Or that they understand that everyone who exploits labor, yes even your local mom and pop restaurant, is the same. Maybe if you weren’t so hung up on the top ten worst offenders you could see that too.
Plenty of PoC exploit wage labor to get out of that 60% and into the comfy side of the imperial core. They aren’t less evil just because their evil is less successful.
Your argument is ‘the Black woman who owns her own corner shop is as bad as elon musk’?
I appreciate that you have voiced this opinion in opposition to mine. Thank you.
Yes, anyone exploiting the labor of others or seeking economic rents is a bad lesson and part of the capitalist machine.
I appreciate that you’ve made it very clear you’re not actually opposed to the exploitation of labor you just want the pillaged wealth distributed a little more evenly among the pillagers.
Ghouls.
Targets.
Rich yes, white - hell no.
I suspect that 60% is gonna grow to a 90% rapidly in the coming years.
We only need to organize twelve million Americans to counter this.
Sadly, we’ll need to organize twelve million Americans to counter this.
Obviously, we aren’t giving billionaires enough wealth to create jobs.
Yeah, and besides that, they’re smarter and more innovative and creative than the rest of us. So, either way, they deserve it.
Without them we could end up with socialism where people might even have democratic control over their workplaces. And of course that would be much worse. For instance, cooperatives are only better in theory, wait, and in practice…
about 50% of these people didn’t vote. of the half that did vote, over half of them voted for trump. fuck em. this is what ya voted for.
Of every 100 Americans in the bottom 60% by income, roughly 45 didn’t vote, and roughly 32 voted for Trump.
So ya, of that 60% only roughly 25% of them voted kamala. I feel bad for them but the rest can eat their shit.
Yeah, yeah. We know. If she’d won you’d be at brunch.
And that’s the problem, given that the headline here is from the Biden administration.
maybe not at brunch but we certainly would’ve been better off.
Did you miss the part where the headline is from 2023 when Biden was President and Harris was VP?
I mean. It’s pretty obvious you missed the part where she ran to the right in the GOP on immigration, the part where she virtually promised a war with Iran and continued escalation of Isntreal’s US funded genocide.
In what way do you think anyone would be better off? Aside from the fact that a compliant media wouldn’t be putting all this in your face to make sure you keep voting for one or the other halves of the Wall St party instead of revolting or voting third party or literally anything but continuing to legitimize the dictatorship of capital.
brother, if I gotta spell it out for ya this conversation is fuckin over lmao
So that’s just a straight up admission that she’d have done exactly what she said and the only difference between her doing it and Trump doing it is that when Trump does it the media puts it right in front of you and when a Dem does it they keep it quiet?
I guess also she’d have operated the orphan crushing machine a lot more competently and efficiently.
lol this gave me a good laugh. Thanks buddy.
Because being less clear is better?
I think this is the press release for the new analysis they are referring to. It’s titled Majority of Americans Can’t Achieve a Minimal Quality of Life, According to New Ludwig Institute Research. You can find “bottom 60%” in the fourth paragraph
In 2023, the bottom 60% of households earned just 22.1% of all disposable income but needed 39% to meet MQL.
When we’re talking about a socialist politician “almost half don’t support”
When we’re talking about the working class “bottom 60% are struggling”
I see what’s going on here. What a world…
