First , put a video DVD in. This will actually recalibrate the laser and then your DVD games will play. Ive done it.
If that doesn’t work, adjust the laser power potentiometer. Its really not hard.
If that fails, you can stream games off your desktop or nas via Ethernet !! Its a bit involved but not bad.

Havent touched windows at all in a year except for work. And I did try Linux back in the early 00s but I wasnt ready then (wanted to game). Its come sooooo far.

I helped SO move to Linux on their PCS. They dont touch windows except for work,and they’re happy .our media center PC runs Linux and they’re adept at navigating it, even doing some light terminal commands! And they are not super techy

obviously there’s way more online to read but the way I understand it’s a type of graphics unit that has, in a way, flexible “code” so you can “tell” it to be anything you want. One moment you tell it it’s a C64, it acts identital. Then you tell it to act like a PS2, it acts identical.
This is usually what the expensiver “retro consoles” have in them. The way I understand, it’s actually not emulation per se, but similar.
