Donald Trump pledged Wednesday to send every American adult $5,000 if Republicans retain control of the House and Senate in the midterm elections, an extraordinary gambit to reverse his party’s sagging fortunes in November.

The dubious promise would likely cost more than $1 trillion and require congressional approval, and would further exacerbate the country’s nearly $1.8 trillion annual budget deficit and concerns about inflation.

This would be a progressive tax refund. I generally support these. $5k helps a lot of people out, but doesn’t help out the top 10% at all.

Trump put work requirements and monthly reporting on SNAP and Medicaid, decreased social security payouts.

He taxed US Citizens with a tariff and when forced to pay it back he refunded it all to corporations.

The federal deficit has increased massively and even with 53 senators he cant get a budget passed without months of debate and a reconciliation.

The chance of him giving out $5k is less than nothing.

There were previous DOGE dividends (thousands of dollars) and Tariff dividends of $2,000 which never happened:

        https://www.trumpstruth.org/statuses/29768

Less than a year ago Trump posted:

        https://www.trumpstruth.org/statuses/33756

People that are against Tariffs are FOOLS! We are now the Richest, Most Respected Country In the World, With Almost No Inflation, and A Record Stock Market Price. 401k’s are Highest EVER. We are taking in Trillions of Dollars and will soon begin paying down our ENORMOUS DEBT, $37 Trillion. Record Investment in the USA, plants and factories going up all over the place. A dividend of at least $2000 a person (not including high income people!) will be paid to everyone

Since then the debt has grown by $3 trillion dollars and no dividends have been paid out. What’s changed since then is rather than not paying out $2,000 he will now not pay out $5,000.

Isn’t that the same kind of manipulation they’re accusing Musk of currently? He literally wants to buy the elections.

Buying the presidency seems so american, /s. Good news though, if he is desperately trying to give money away you know his election toppling plans are not very good. Be ready america and watch those polls with your video phones come election night.

The sad thing is that many right-wing voters genuinely believe every word Trump says, and that anything he says that doesn’t come to pass is due to someone else interfering in his otherwise ‘sound’ plans.

Make it $10k, bring back graduated corporate taxes (with global consolidated income to prevent ferreting away income in a plethora of international subsidiaries), and actually pledge to solving the debt and I’m sold.

They also proposed something that would raise money. That used to be how a lot of this stuff happened. If you wanted to increase spending, it usually came with at least a discussion on how to offset it.

In other words, Trump feels the only way that Americans will vote for candidates who support his unpopular agenda is to bribe them.

They bought his cheap made in China maga clothes

They bought his $500 dollar gold sneakers which turned out to be trash

They bought his expensive ecd knife which turned out to be gas-station-knife quality

They bought his crypto which turned out to be pump&dump and lost money

They bought gold phone which turned out to be plastic and 2 years out of date

They’re buying the minted coin which they lose money on

Something tells me they’ll still fall for this one thinking it will be the one that’s genuine.

it would be more like another $10 trillion after tax cuts and credits for the wealthy that would absolutely piggyback on any republicant legislation giving a mere $5000 to every ‘us adult’… and the new donnie dollars will require a birth certificate, fingerprints, facial scan, social logins, and dna sample to collectapply for.

At this point, he’d just be giving back 5000 of the dollars he’s taken from everybody this term.

Alt title: Why the Trump Admin wants tracking of ballots and likely elimination of ballot secrecy.
