I landed on the waiting list like many of you, but that’s okay, it gives me more time to read feedback and experiences from folks who buy one in the first round.
While we wait, what games do you actually want to play on the Frame when you get yours? Please specify if it’s a VR title or non-VR title (unless it’s a super popular one like Hades or Portal that everyone will recognize).
I went through the Steam store “great on frame” listings as well as the overall VR listings, and IMO it’s quite a mixed bag. There’s fairly good variety but many of the “overwhelmingly positive” titles are relatively old, like even 2017-2022. And many of the newer titles don’t seem to have a lot of players yet.
Of course, if you have no intention of ever buying a Frame or want to discourage others or even hype some other device, please just refrain from commenting. This simply isn’t the thread for you.
I’m excited for flight sims. Between MSFS and X-Plane, which is better in VR?
I’m leaning toward X-Plane but I’m just starting to look into it
If anyone wants to pretend they’re Spider-Man, give Yupitergrade a try. Crazy fun story, hard as fuck levels and the music is amazing.

VRs biggest issue. There’s no games. Meta basically killed the segment before it could even get started.
I’ve seen a couple devs talk about this on their YouTube channels. They call it a chicken and egg problem. It’s hard to get funding to develop games for a platform if you don’t expect a decent sized audience. And nobody wants to buy hardware if there are no games for it. And it’s resource-intensive to port a game to multiple very different pieces of VR hardware.
Hopefully Valve can break through that, because I hate having horrible spyware like the Quest as the industry standard.
It makes sense. But there were studios attempting to make games, until Facebook/Meta snatched them up to build an exclusive platform. Killed VRs momentum.
My Steam library is about 400 games. ~30% of those are exclusively VR titles, 10-15% are pancake with VR support, and less than 5% are VR with desktop support.
The only shortage I see is AAA titles, which I could care less for.VRs biggest issue. There’s no games.

Most are old, from when the Vive and then the Index arrived. Most are janky old VR titles or existing games adapted. Alyx was the first real quality game we got.
The rest are locked behind the shitty Quest and PSVR.There’s plenty of silly little experiences, but the amount of actual games with substance is low.

Metal: Hellsinger does sound fun but yeah I’m a VR newbie so I’ll save that one till I have more experience so I don’t get sick or punch a wall lol
Hellblade was pretty psychologically abrasive on a regular monitor (and not fun IMO), might have to skip a replay of that in VR though.

I’ve never played anything in VR. This will be my first VR headset and first VR experience in general.

The Talos Principle VR is such a great story. Needs a bit of bug fixes last I played it. I wish they did VR for the second game.
Arma Reforger, non VR. I’ll check out VR titles when I get it, buy it’s mostly for the milsim
I am sure the first game I try will be Beat Saber, standalone. That was my favorite VR title, but I haven’t used VR in years.
Tbh, the only vr games that I’ve actually played have been skyrimvr and vrchat, and a tiny bit of subnautica with mods to improve the vr. I might play around with new ones a bit, but what I mostly want it for is to more conveniently hang out/try game worlds with friends of mine who are on VRC a lot.
My current headset can do it, but since switching over to linux it takes a significant amount of hassle to reboot to windows, probably let it update because I otherwise never use that partition, launch both steamVR and the pico link drivers and connect up all the cables and confirm that it’s all working, just to have to reboot back to linux when I’m done with it.
That’s not enough to spend money on new hardware by itself, but a close friend of mine has been wanting to try VR and hasn’t gotten fed up with windows like I have, so I offered to give him my current headset when something that works with linux more smoothly comes out, which I figure the frame is probably the best bet for.
I dropped Windows years ago, and use VR all the time (Quest 3). Do I do something wrong?

The Tribe folks have been very good to me. Great group of people.
It also helps me get practice on gear I can’t afford, but encounter at shows.
If Walkabout Mini Golf is available on steam frame, it’s the best game I’ve played so far! Highly addicting.
Second for Walkabout! While the game is “old” (it’s been out for a long time) they continue to add courses and content, at the rate of about a new course every other month. If you have one or more friends who also have this game, it’s about the best VR hang you can have.

Currently? VRChat. Only thing I was playing on my Quest until I sold it; you don’t need VR for it anyway. Alyx was good, but it’s not really long or replayable.
First game to play would certainly have to be Beat Saber, I think that’s my all time favorite game. Then probably play a fresh save of Half Life Alyx (I started one in 2023 but kind of stopped playing).
