      Tbf “We’re having a nice dinner, do we have to talk about the horrors of the holocaust, again? Can we talk about something nice for a few minutes?” is a valid want.

      Especially in a world inundated with 24/7 news cycles constantly feeding news to make people scared for ratings, and an internet consolidated into six fucking websites full of those scared people posting about those same things, and all art being made by those scared people so it also contains allusions to the same sentiment, sometimes you just want to talk about that cute thing your cat did earlier, what fun book you’re reading, how cool salamanders are, whatever, and that’s fine.

        A few times Ive had to tell my other half “Can we talk about literally anything else for the next hour”. I know what is going on because of the things you pointed out, and sometimes I want to exist for five minutes without hearing that the fbi is hiring puppy fuckers or whatever is happening today.

    Meanwhile everyone else will just use vieled comments to punch down and instigate. But that’s fine because they’re “just telling it like it is”. Fuck that shit. Walk into every room decrying nazis and shame anyone who protests. It is impossible for things to be chill while fascist abound, they’ll make sure of it.
