The world’s No. 1 bro-caster, who has expressed some buyer’s remorse over his endorsement of Trump, stood directly behind the president, who was seated at the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office signing an executive order to ease restrictions on medical research and treatments using psychedelic drugs.

This, and accidentally legalizing hemp weed are the possibly only positive things to come out of this whole debacle

While I absolutely hate the mango and I am not a fanboy of the bald dude, I am pretty happy to hear psychedelics will be legal. It was about time, man.

      will be legal

Oh you sweet summer child. This is an EO to study them - do you sincerely believe they’re not going to try to sell you new TrumpRx “medicines?” This is not a win as I see it

Yeah, unfortunately this is just making it easier for connected people to do what they want and sell what they want, but plebs are still going to be getting their asses kicked by shithead cops for having suspicious looking multivitamins

Whenever Rogan has a guest on that I think will surely push back on what Rogan is and has been doing in regards to Trump, I watch it just to see if they will say anything. And I’m disappointed every time. I thought for sure, when I saw Bill Murray was on with Joe Rogan, I thought for sure that Bill Murray was gonna push back, and he didn’t at all. I naively thought that someone like Bill Murray might be able to get Rogan to see reason.

And then recently David Cross was on Rogan’s show, and David Cross is really funny, and I like him. He’s super political and he didn’t push back at all. Not even a little bit, it was like, what’s happening!? I mean, I don’t want to give David Cross a hard time about it, but it’s like, why did you go on his show? And then not even say anything about how Rogan has conducted himself with Trump.

Probably for the exposure to further his career. Disappointing but he may not actually care about what he says he does.

This is only an executive order. We know those are meaningless. I’m curious if there will actually be research on something that could go back to being illegal at any time.

It might be meaningless legally but we’ve also learned that the various 3 letter agencies just do whatever the fuck he says anyway.

I really thinks more research into these things could be beneficial. The worst that could happen is they discover it could make things worse but deciding without data is foolish.

Kind of ironic that the multi-decade war on drugs that included things like MDMA, psilocybin, LSD were being done by the cons, as a way to “own the libs”:

    https://eji.org/news/nixon-war-on-drugs-designed-to-criminalize-black-people/

The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and Black people. You understand what I’m saying? We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or Black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and Blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.

The Republican Party has always been full of Republicans.

Honestly psychedelics turned my opinion on living around when I was younger and I was just messing around recklessly with them (I mean, Not too recklessly, safe tested doses and that, but I’m not a doctor!)

I do not doubt it could be helpful or useful ina therapeutic setting, especially when administered by people who know what they’re doing.

But we all know Trump is doing this to win back Rogan, who he needs to keep the roid bros in line

The president also joked about getting ibogaine for himself as he pointed to a study that found that people who took the drug experienced a massive reduction in symptoms of depression and anxiety within a month.

“Can I have some, please? I’ll take some,” he said. “I don’t have time to be depressed. You know, you stay busy enough, maybe that works too. That’s what I do.”

    Anybody seen my violin?

I’m pretty sure that a lot of the horrible shit that comes out of conservatives is their response to their anxieties.

It’s kind of like fight or flight. Although most people turn it inwards and recluse, some people become aggressive and turn it outwards in reaction to it.
