Oh yeah, just look at the new starter trio AND the world you have to play in. It’s obviously AI-Generated. The devs stopped trying to make good games ever since the 3DS era. You think they WOULDN’T use the low-effort AI shortcuts?

In fact, the Pokemon Legends Z-A devs actually DID get exposed for using AI to write their songs, and they still got away with it (just like how they manage to get away with every other bad descision). They’ve used Generative-AI before, and they’re not gonna stop now.

I actually don’t think they would use AI for creature design. That’s like, their whole shtick at this point (I certainly don’t think anybody’s buying the games for the story), and I think Nintendo is smart enough not to risk the most important aspect of their games. I don’t think the starters even look that bad (aside from the bird) nor AI generated (including the bird). That said, I don’t doubt they’d use AI in almost any other aspect of the game.

Admittedly I haven’t seen any news about the game in like 2 months though, so I could be missing something.

They did straight up steal one of the starters’ design straight from Cassette Beasts, even down to the name lawl

Despite the both of them being Pomeranians, they don’t actually like anything alike. Which tells me they didn’t steal Cassette Beasts’ homework here. Pomeranians aren’t exactly unpopular dogs, so it’s not even a little surprising Pokemon (a game with several other dog breeds) is adding one. It’s also where the both of them derive their names.

Though Pombomb is a significantly better name than Pombon.

Honestly, I would rather have Gamefreak steal people’s fan designs than take the shitty Mega Evolutions that we were stuck with in Legenda Z-A. There isn’t a single Mega exclusive to Z-A that’s good or even passable. Mega Greninja, Mega Starmie, Mega Dragonite, Mega Golurk, Mega Skarmory, Mega Meganium, and all the other new megas are proof that Gamefreak HATES their fans so much that they would rather use an INSULTING design than admit that the fans can make better designs than Gamefreak.

Nah, I think Z-A megas as a whole get too much hate. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot of stinkers, but many of them genuinely look good, certainly no worse than other megas. Absol Z, Chandelure, Chesnaught, Delphox, Dragalge, Emboar, Falinks, Golisopod, Magearna, Meowstic, Scolipede, & Scrafty… plus Golurk & Skarmory, which you said look bad. I think ALL of these look good. Some of them I’d even call great.

A lot of the others suffer from trying too hard to fit some theme that doesn’t actually look good in the game. Like Raichu X and Y are intended to be shaped like an X and a Y (though I don’t hate the Y form). Feraligatr looks like a Totodile when its mouth closes. Dragonite is supposed to resemble the pre-evolutions with the wings, while also being a reference to an angel. Notably, most of these look pretty good in their concept art, but translate terribly into the actual flat-colored 3D game.

As a huge Cassette Beasts fan, agreed. They didn’t attempt to imitate the (superior imo) explosive bomb design, with the tail as the fuse and the black fur turning to jagged red to imitate an explosion.

              Pomeranians exist. What a twist.

I just looked up Cassette Beasts. Never played a second of it. I can already confirm that this game is better than Pokemon Winds & Waves, and it’s not even close.

I’m assuming that it’s referring to pokemon champions being very broken on release and speculated to be vibe coded due to nature of some of the bugs. But it’s not exclusive to switch 2 as far as I know. So maybe it’s just putting the cart before the horse and assuming Gen 10 will be slop as well. I haven’t played Pokemon since the 3DS (and the last games were so boring that I couldn’t even finish them anyway)

Honestly, knowing the platform was rooted in tankie ideology, it was never going to be good. It just took many of us way too long to see it.

At this point it’s how I kill time on the can. That’s tbh all it deserves.

It did change. Lemmy used to be fine, but then about a year or two ago the users got worse. Way worse. My block list has grown exponentially in the last year or two, ballooning way larger than my block list on any other platform has ever been.

There are exactly the same amount (if not more) of trolls, “bootlickers,” and censorship on Lemmy as Reddit. You just might notice it less because you agree with it or aren’t in the most affected communities or instances (like the ml instances). A lot more bots here on Lemmy than I recall on Reddit (which was like, 5 years ago, which may be part of the reason admittedly). Entire instances that feel dedicated to troll accounts (like HexBear). Lemmy has zero protection from a troll setting up multiple instances to use to spam past bans or instance blocking AFAIK.

There is no alternative. None of them are better. They’re all different flavors of the exact same thing because of the people that use them. They’re all equally bad, just different window dressing. That’s it.

People have just become worse in the least year or two. Globally. Like a switch turned everyone from trying to be a decent person to just being the worst version of themselves towards everyone else. And this is magnified on the internet because of anonymity.

It’s literally not a meme. Not even “figuratively not a meme”. It’s less of a meme than Milhouse, and Milhouse is not a meme.

A meme is a repeating joke or other pop culture act, including the category of text overlay templates. I don’t see any other uses of this panel, so it is not yet a meme. It is currently a comic panel.

Make a second one and we’re all set.

              I am not.

A meme is, by definition, something that is being copied, spread and reused. In order for this to be an “original meme,” it needs to be the origin of a new meme format, which will then be copied and iterated on, usually by re-using the language or re-using the physical format.

You just posted your shitty opinion in speech bubbles and called it a meme, because you don’t know what a meme is.

I remember when trolling meant something! It used to be about making people mad, evolving emotion, and getting them embroiled in embarrassing positions they can’t take back! Now it’s just saying wrong thing and being politely corrected!
