I’ve read half of the best novel finalists: Raven Scholar and The Everlasting are both fantastic, but Death of the Author is one of the worst books I’ve read in years.
They’re not all bangers though. Alien Clay didn’t do it for me. A lot of repetition for themes and concepts that could have been wrapped up in a short story.

Similar. Shroud and A Drop of Corruption are both great. Corruption is the second book in the series. “The Tainted Cup” is the first.
Adrian Tchaikovsky is, imho, one of the all time greats.
