Similar. Shroud and A Drop of Corruption are both great. Corruption is the second book in the series. “The Tainted Cup” is the first.
Adrian Tchaikovsky is, imho, one of the all time greats.

You misunderstand.
There’s a big difference between something you’re passionate about and something you enjoy.
The book works by testing your skills in different areas and then giving you a list of jobs that sue those skills.
For example, if one has good social skills and good dexterity they could be successful as a hairstylist or as a paramedic or as a product demonstrator.
All the jobs are different but they use the same skills.
If you actually like talking to people you’ll be miserable driving a truck alone all day. That’s what the book prevents.


Instead of plowing on through, stop and let the story work on you.
It’s fine for you to sit and just think about the story.
If you want to let the world build in your mind slowly, that’s fine.
Isthere a local library you can get physical books from?
You could get a civil service job and work for the community.


Are you reading physical books or screen text?
I find it much easier to read print on paper.
