The global perception of the United States has fallen for a third consecutive year, now ranking several spots behind Russia, a survey commissioned by the Alliance of Democracies Foundations revealed on May 7.

In contrast, Ukraine held a positive global perception score, finishing with +9 in 62nd place among countries surveyed, far behind its Western allies Switzerland and Canada, which tied at the top with a score of +36.

2016 MAGA = “We have to elect Trump because the world is laughing at us!”

2026 MAGA = “Who cares what the rest of the world thinks?”

Obama was vastly overvalued in Europe. He was just as much a war criminal as the average American president. Killing 70000 civilians with illegal drone attacks, and using CIA for illegal surveillance of allied governments.

I don’t think he was overvalued, from a European perspective he was the best, or at least one of the best American presidents ever, defintely the beginning of the US’ post-ww2 world dominance. I’m not saying the best human being, i’m saying best American president. It’s a matter of one in relation to the rest.

No actually he wasn’t, he was perceived as such, because he is an amazing speaker. But when it came down to the actual politics, he wasn’t that much different than other American presidents, that have made a mess around the world, causing out of control immigration around the world.
What part of 70000 innocent civilians killed with illegal drone attacks was it you didn’t get?

He also claimed he had found a balance in illegal surveillance, because US citizens were somewhat protected, while foreigners clearly by Obama and American standards, have no rights at all.

And he supported the secret laws, courts and oversight that “regulate” US intelligence. Despite they are contrary to democracy.
Clearly this undemocratic arrangement is used for illegal practices, and presidential and American overreach.

Looks like whatever the enemies of the US have been planning has been working out great!

Bye bye, soft power, goodbye allies.

Not surprising. The US has dropped below shit-hole country status into murderous, pedophile, child-trafficking territory.

Makes sense. Anyone who had a positive view of Russia is already in support of them being horrible, while the international activities of the US have gotten a lot worse since the election. The current government isn’t going to fulfill any of what might have given anyone a positive outlook on its foreign or domestic policy, while those who have some political incentive to be pro-Russia aren’t suddenly going to change their mind just because the US is acting more like them.

It won’t get the administration’s attention, but hopefully the drop in international popularity is embarrassing enough that people might vote differently in the midterms and in 2028. It seemed to make a difference when George W was in office.

Even better, Puerto Rico was rated 26 points higher than the USA (the scale technically spans 200 points, but the difference between the highest and lowest rated countries is only 55 points, so that’s a HUGE difference). I bet that makes trump mad.

Only Iran, Afghanistan, North Korea, and Israel were rated worse.

Yeah the US was already quite unpopular in many areas of the world, and now they’re doing their best to alienate those who supported them, so…

Israel, a close ally to the United States, finished in last place among surveyed countries with a perception score of -24, falling behind North Korea and Afghanistan at -19.

That actually makes the survey sound trustworthy.
