Sooo… you claim Brave is created by an artist, a piece of Art, one may day?
most importantly, a vegan artist?
Commenting this from Brave
Firefox still exists, right?
And it sucks.
Sounds like just the perfect match for you!
Keep licking Mozilla’s boot.
Switched to LibreWolf a few weeks ago because of AI.
Love the background writing.

Why wouldn’t they leave a donation link on that page :<
I bet they don’t even have MBAs! How do they expect to optimize their revenue funnel and drive quarterly growth‽
Us when we’re messy with our spaghetti dinner
I hope we can get a recipe, that sauce looks yummy
I love using Brave browser… swipes away crypto ad banner …because there is a massive focus… swipes away crypto ad banner …on privacy….
Privacy against big tech but brave is just an indie operation please give them your data 🥺
brave!?, that’s some kind of food?
I don’t understand. Why does Brave not exist? Is it because the developer is a chud? Fair enough. Is it because it’s Chrome? If so, does that apply to Vivaldi?
It does not exist because it does not exist.
Hope that helps.
Yeah but it’s the best chromium skin!
Chromium with crypto, spy and adware injected into it and its development led by an alt-right manchild? Hard disagree. Even the default Ungoogled Chromium easily tops Brave.
Cromite and Helium also top Brave.

Can somebody explain something stupid to me? What exactly is wrong with Chromium? Does Google have backdoor access to anyone who’s running a Chromium based program or something?
As a web dev I hate the trend of websites relying on chromium-specific quirks, there are a handful of sites I need to use which refuse to work in any non-chromium browser, and customer support will always tell you to just use chrome as if you’re not a normal person for using Firefox. So yeah what’s wrong with chromium to me is that it’s the new internet explorer when it comes to web standards. Websites and large businesses can afford to just not care if they are following web standards as long as it works in chrome, and if you have a problem it’s your fault for not using chrome.
This is why I switched from LibreWolf. If I had to have a Chromium browser installed as a backup anyway for few important sites, I might as well use Chromium. Imo Chromium has won. It owns the web landscape. I’ve given up
In technology, victory is fleeting.
Why don’t you at least use Ungoogled Chromium, Cromite, or Helium Browser? At least they prioritize security and privacy equally while not being tied to Ghoulgle.
Do you have an issue with desktop Cromite where the browser just straight up freezes except for maybe the menu button? I’d chalk up to being a Debian Linux weirdo, but my work-provided Windows 11 laptop also has this particular issue in the flesh. I switched back to Ungoogled Chromium because of it, and also cause I want uBlock Origin and no less.
At least Cromite Android has extensions.
Their adblocks don’t work mainly
Only Brave still works on YouTube
Is this because of the whole Manifest V3 thing that prevents uBlock Origin from being installed?
I use LibreWolf, and I do have issues with a few sites (my local utility company’s bill pay only works on chromium), but I still refuse to use a chromium based browser except for those specific sites.
It is inconvenient, but it can still make a difference. If sites that have chromium only functionality see that enough FireFox users are trying to use the site, they may update it. I know web devs check those kinds of metrics.
Yeah, we’re back to the days of websites only supporting Internet Explorer because of proprietary features and weird quirks.
That’s valid too. Thanks for pointing that out
Someone at work made a “who on earth uses FireFox” comment recently, like it was some obscure and inferior / outdated software (our company includes FF as part of the standard image for both PC and Mac users). I did not go into my “why chromium is evil” rant, but I did tell them how to adjust their settings to fix some performance issues they were having with it. I’m pretty sure they still switched to Chrome.
What exactly is wrong with Chromium?
It gives Google hegemony over web standards.
They abuse the fuck out of their monopoly, basically.
They made changes to limit the usefulness of adblockers (Manifest V3), they tried to force a remote attestation API (WEI API) a few years back that would let them do stuff like fully block users who aren’t running locked-down operating systems from using online banking software or accessing Youtube, they added many chrome-specific web APIs that are extremely helpful for fingerprinting and lock users into the chrome ecosystem, etc.
They made changes to limit the usefulness of adblockers (Manifest V3)
Unless you’re using Brave :)
You can’t. It doesn’t exist.
Lol actually
And browser is such a complex piece of software that you cannot just fork it easily and change those things within a weekend with a bunch of unpaid volunteers.
So basicaly everything that made it through the android-google ecosystem also made it through chromium, is my take
@Chaunticleer this sums up many concerns (at least mine)

Thank you
Yes but Brave is Chromium with functioning AdBlock
@KindaABigDyl with crypto bs added and no control for ublock or making extensions that modify the website for your needs.
I don’t use the crypto. You can just disable the wallet when you set up the appearance.
which you can get on any Chromium based browser, brave is nothing special in that regard. you can have functioning adblock with Vivaldi also.
No Vivaldi’s and the others’ don’t work for YouTube
yes it does. i’m using it right now.
I tried it. No it doesn’t. Quit lying just bc you don’t like Brave
no, because i’ve never seen it

Out where?
Out of the environment of course.
good question!
Did she eat brave?
she would if it existed!
I use WebLibre (Gecko) with Brave Search
What’s the deal with Brave? Why are people against it?
Brave was found altering links to some crypto services like Binance to include their referral and basically profit from unknowing users, they also run an ad network, they rely on Chromium, thereby endorsing Google’s dominance over the modern Web, they are very crypto-positive, which is a problem for many in the open-source community, and on top of that, everything else others have said.
Brendan Eich. Specifically his stance against same sex marriage. He was pressured to resign from Mozilla, which he cofounded, due to his support of California’s prop 8. Then he founded Brave. The Brave browser also has some annoying crypto and AI features turned on by default. I think it’s a perfectly fine piece of software. I use it as a second browser.
It’s impossible to be good at programming and morality at the same time.
That’s why I never tried with either.
A whole ton of femboys with knee socks, running Arch, might beg to differ
i’m not against it, i just don’t believe it exists
Aside from the homophobia, Brave also runs an ad network so I’m skeptical about their privacy claims.

Vigilink is the vendor they use to do this iirc. Link hijacking for referral revenue is wild thing to base a business on, but I’ve seen more sketch things running around the ad tech industry.
Their very shady history + their very bigoted owner + current shady tactics
Edit: and on top of that it’s Chromium based
They do a ton of sketchy shit. I was skeptical, but this article convinced me.
If you need to use a Chromium browser, there are a shit-ton that aren’t Brave. I use Ungoogled Chromium.
The guy who made it has bad beliefs. It’s good software from what I can tell, and free as in speech and free as in beer, but if you use it you get his bad bigot cooties. You have to use free software by certified free range organic non-bigots or it rubs off on you I guess.
Never mind his politics, that asshole designed JavaScript!
Okay that gave me a good chuckle. But really with FOSS software it’s important to be aware of biases the developers might have. Sure if it’s an open source project, in theory I can audit the code but realistically not so much. If the lead developer is a known bad actor, then there’s reason to be paranoid about vulnerabilities or backdoors being injected into the codebase.
Well there’s no code he can insert that will invalidate anyone’s marriage. And his philosophy on tech and privacy is good. I probably wouldn’t invite him to brunch, but I’m okay with his code.
