You say that as a joke, but it’s very real. The ED staff like to mutter about never removing the boots. The floor staff mutter about having to do just that.
There are homeless people who’ve not removed their boots in a year or two. There are toes that come off with socks.
If something happens, it’s better to have one foot ready in case there’s broken glass on the floor than to have two bloody socks.
Better yet, just wear boots at all times. If you never remove them, you’ll never have to worry about broken glass again! You know, just in case.
