I would compare the occupied territories of Ukraine to what is happening in Israel as in both cases there is an authoritarian violent power with control over all the utilities, movement and with a monopoly on violence, but I reject the idea that a “war” occurred after October 7th, what occurred after October 7th was a genocide and nothing else.
Ukraine on the otherhand has been a war much to the consternation of Putin and russia.

All of Ukraine would be in russian occupation zone if not for relentless resistance since 2014.
Russia did plan to do just that. Everyone in the West was okay with that. Ukrainians were the only ones that weren’t okay with that.
