  • In some sense the bible is a prolonged argument on the mechanics of butchering animals and how it relates to humans.

Burnt offerings, red heifers, hundreds of years of a lamb sacrifice tied to the temple, the Christos becoming the lamb of God, the Christos on the cross as the serpent on the staff, the binding of Issac and all that jazz.

In the book of Samuel wiping out the animals is a feature of genocide: “Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.”

  • Linux is fine.

If you wanna avoid LLM’s all up in your kernel then leave, Linus has put his foot down on this months back and the kernel is knee deep in llm’s, and powering much of the ecosystem.

If operating systems need verification the linux ecosystem seems well placed to avoid this with LFS, Gentoo, Toybox and many more being kits to build your own.

If Linux does get drowned in twats and turns into some kinda IBM powered Steam machine then the BSD’s are waiting.

  • Ubuntu is a solid option to start, and stay. Llm’s know it well, everything targets Ubuntu and the ecosystem covers server, workstation, IoT, containers and various architectures.

For non-corporate stuff I’m a fan of the antiX and MX ecosystems, Debian with rims on and a lot of user choice, control and toolkits to make things easy to manage.

I’d be wary of peeps saying ‘distro XYZ is shit’, try stuff and see what you think. Arch is a fragile restrictive toy ime, but loads seem to love it.

If it’s just a basic workstation most distros likely fine, pick something you like the vibes of and see how you go.
