  • Academia is rife with bigots. This is an example of Horseshoe Theory in real life. They’re pigeonholed into their narrow track in life that they haven’t spared much thought for other topics. Not all that different from someone who is uneducated and ignorant.

They over-estimate their proficiency in other areas by assuming because they’ve studied hard at one thing, they must be good at anything. At best they know of the concepts of the -isms and repeat the right words when prompted to do so. But catch them in a moment such as this and all is revealed.

The internet is historically like this on account of it leaning towards the academically privileged classes of the world. People conflate socially maligned behaviors with education and professional status.

All you’ve done is reinforce that point. Because she is a scientist or because another person is a lawyer they are less deserving of this behavior??? As if a less privileged woman would be. You conveniently weaved your narrative around this. Education and class are inextricably linked.

America was isolationist until they were dragged kicking and screaming into the war. Churchill was regularly crossing the Atlantic to beg Roosevelt to try to garner enough support to join the war. The American people did not care. The majority were against joining the war.

All the same today, The majority of Americans either support MAGA or are indifferent. Short of some great personal injury such as a Pearl Harbor type event, Americans will continue to be as they are.

The idea that Americans were anti-fascist heroes is propaganda. They were only angry that they got got by Japan.

  • The damage is done. Unless there’s a sudden reversal of cultural attitudes, the US has given up. The only way I see this happening is if the space race sparks another push for STEM.

Like, actual STEM. It seems like nobody has noticed but all anybody has cared about anymore is watching the stock market go up. It’s no longer about the pursuit of science and technology but how that can be used to make money.

They need to land some people on the moon again. Make it a big deal about sci-fi type shit. Orbit space stations around the Earth and the moon. Make it a daily life kind of thing that the population can get engaged with.

It’s apparent that people are weary of technology anymore cause all we’ve had is brain rot designed to extract value from us. People need to see science and technology as something hopeful again.
