Yes, some healthy scepticism is great and very valuable. But, you do need to put some trust in experts, they are the ones who know the field well enough to share the important parts. When it comes to the mRNA vaccines, they were understood well enough to be almost certain that the risks of catching COVID far outweigh the risks of the vaccine, especially once you consider heard immunity and the impact it has on people at risk who can’t take the vaccine. So at that point it becomes clearly the safest choice to get everyone to take it.

We were unable to study more refined and nuanced measures that may be more affected by GLP-1 use such as self-esteem, locus of control, happiness, relationship status other than marital status and relationship satisfaction
Looks like there’s some big gaps in this study, so more research is needed. Anecdotally I’m sure it’s been helping my mental health and self esteem.

That’s interesting. I think sometimes I can visualise something quite well, but most of the time it feels more like what you’re describing.

Hmm, I’m from Australia and studied Mechanical Engineering, but I feel like I was already quite Scientifically literate before getting to high school. I know there’s plenty of people who are not scientifically inclined here, but I think the majority still understand the core principals, from their school education. Is it not like that where you’re from?

Yeah, that 210 deaths due to cannabanoids piqued my interest. No one has ever been known to overdose using marijuana. But, synthetic cannabinoids can kill people. I found this from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare:
AIHW analysis of the National Mortality Database showed that in 2024, cannabinoids were directly involved in 2.2% (or 43) of all drug-induced deaths, a decrease from 16.4% (325 deaths) in 2018 (Table NMD2). These numbers should be interpreted with caution due to a recent coding change surrounding the determination of the involvement of cannabis in drug-induced deaths. Prior to 2020, cannabis detected in the blood of a person who died from a multi-drug toxicity was assigned to T40.7 ‘Poisoning by cannabis (derivatives)’. Since 2020, T40.7 is assigned to drug-induced deaths only when cannabis is determined by the pathologist as contributing to the toxicity. Where cannabis is detected in the blood, but is not specified as contributing to the toxicity, it is coded as R78.3 ‘Finding of hallucinogen in blood’. For more information, see Technical notes.
That states only 43 deaths for the same year. I would also guess that many, possibly all of them are due to multiple drugs.

The optimist in me hopes this will hurt one nation and be the start of their popularity decreasing. But the pessimist sees this as one more step towards replicating the hell hole that America has become.

I find this to be odd timing. This shit has been going on for ages and lately our government seems to have been mostly ignoring the travesties done in the name of Israel. So why are they applying these sanctions now?

I know this kind of attitude can feel righteous and satisfying. But, it’s exactly the kind of attitude that drives people towards pieces of shit like Tate. I’m not saying you have to bend over and make assholes feel welcome, but having a little empathy can go a long way. Pushing them away so aggressively just contributes to a bad feedback loop.

Just recently we had a popular post: “The Will To Change Men, Masculinity, And Love By bell hooks”. I can take a couple quotes from the preface of that book:
I had not been able to confess that not only did I not understand men, I feared them.
Militant feminism gave women permission to unleash their rage and hatred at men…
I think too many feminists do hate men, and to say “no true feminist hates men” is falling into the no true scotsman fallacy. Typically the loudest people in a group are the most extreme and I don’t believe most feminists hate men, but I also think it’s understandable how some people do believe that.
No one quoted any piece. Heard immunity is a fairly simple concept about preventing the spread by having most people immune to it, so babies and others who can’t be vaccinated are unlikely to ever be exposed to it.
It’s not about mutations, but it is another issue if you allow something to spread it will have more opportunities to mutate and become more virulent
