This just in: “Performative Democrats take performative action to try to get you to vote establishment candidates ahead of midterms.” Nothing the democrats are doing is going to stop me from voting the leftist lefty I can in my locals. period.

It’s this.
and it’s always worth distinguishing between executives and investors.
Executives are going to push the problem, but the core issue is shareholders. In the US, where most of these companies are based, a publicly traded company is expected to make money for its shareholders. Shareholders have subplanted customers in the companies ethical obligagions. The law has been used to make this national policy. Controlling shareholders can (and do) vote to remove company leadership that won’t act how they want. It is not just that they have to generate revenue, they have to generate as much revenue as possible as determined by shareholders. It’s corporate cartel tatics. Fail us and die. Do well and you’ll get rewarded with some of the take.
If a company goes public, It’s only a matter of time until it’s product goes to shit.
Whisky Jones is a bad ass name though. That’s either a porn star or a treasure hunter and I’m good either way
tell me about it.
I’ve written three different papers on social media’s effects on the brain and I still can’t pull away.

I think we’ve reached the point in geopolitics where there’s half-a-dozen hands pulling on any one person’s strings.

It wasn’t just the cost for me. It was the rise of fascism in the world in general and the fact that they are selling my watching history to everyone and anyone. Right now, they say it’s for advertising and development of shows, but I wasn’t waiting around to have my content label me as undesirable.
Less important, but still a factor, was the fact that these services are constantly removing queer content. With the Paramount merger doomed to happen, I imagined there was going to be another purge, so fuck them. Amazon, all streaming services, Facebook, Reddit, I got rid of everything that had my data attached to it. The only hang-on is Spotify, and even that I cleared all my history and liked songs.

without being crass, it’s a basically hygiene joke. The shirt is saying, “Don’t talk shit about me when you need a bath.”

It has been a truism throughout history that most people just want live their lives in peace. Equally true is that there is always a small group of assholes that can’t be happy for one stupid reason or another and find a way to make it everyone else’s problem.

brutal take. I’m guessing you felt that way about…Russia’s fall to fascism, Hong Kong’s protest failures, Iran’s protesters a few years ago, NK in general, Chinese espionage and destruction of their native minority populations, The Hungarians not saving their democracy etc etc. All those citizens are babies too right? asking for help from the global community in some cases and being ignored. woah. such toddlers. Not being able to resist the systems of power in their nation states and fixing their problems. All they had to do was rise up! such babies.
I guess my point is…unless your French. stfu.
If you are French, you rock I’m sorry to be a dick.

I think statistically it’s something like 60-75 percent of the whole country hate trump. of that only like 1/3 are chronically following things enough to always BE upset and have pretty much the daily collection of all the things he’s done. Then of that group, maybe half actually protest about it while the rest kind of just do this, chat online and look around at people that agree with them to blow off steam. It sucks but yeah.
Numbers will change as gen alpha and gent z get brought up in an internet that distracts them and brainwashes them to the right but yeah. That’s kind of the picture. A small group of activists are out there doing stuff trying to put out the house fire and the rest of us are online complaining that it’s getting hot.
It’s never been about what’s right or even what’s popular. It’s always been about what the people in power think they can get away with. Right now the people in power are increasingly seeing that they can get away with anything and they seem to have learned from recent history how to make sure they always will.

There is a small part of me that is amused. Yes, they may eventually flatten the entire country, but for generations everyone has known that Iran is the kind of country that will make it hurt out of spite. Iran is laughing through a blood-filled mouth at everything you do because they know that, even in their fall, they are taking America down with them. Trump, you stupid, stupid child. This is not about money. This is ideological.

She would have been predictable at least.

I screamed and pounded the keyboard back in 2020 at family. Those same family didn’t listen, posted their alternative facts, and voted for him again in 2024. I was a pile of raw nerves back then. Now I am numb. heartbroken and numb. Maybe this was how Cassandra felt when Apollo cursed her.

…You are aware of BRICS right?

I’m not saying the system was good (far, far from it) but this asshole walked into office and started dismantling 100 years of economic diplomacy and peace through trade. There’s no way you can tell me he isn’t a useful idiot for Russia.
No, it’s not. This is a lie to keep people from actually breaking the system. Every election is just a game of wedge issues used to polarize the population into two camps. That’s not how we as a people work. They’ve been doing this for decades, and it’s worked. Women’s rights, gay rights, racial equality, trans rights. They’re always building their platform around minority groups (or foriegn issues) and being loud about it while not doing anything to foster the support they claim to offer. What is the actual population of trans students in the U.S.? I am an ally, but I can see what it is now. It’s virtue signaling. It’s manufacturing a battle, or choosing one, that will keep us engaged and supportive while also making sure they don’t have to do anything for labor rights or reining in corporate America and wealth.
“Vote blue no matter who” is a trap to signal that the establishment is just going to tell you what you want to hear. Anyone actually willing to pull the country the other way won’t win their primary. Period.
A third-party candidate can be an actual threat because they pull voters from everywhere. Regardless, I’m not playing the red vs. blue bullshit anymore. I’m voting with my heart and beliefs, and I hope others do the same before third parties are completely locked out of the digital environment the same way they are in the corporate news environment.
And don’t come at me in response with some hypothetical about one of those minority groups, as I’m sure you or others like you would, as if it’s a binary choice.

14.8…BILLION! FOR A WEBSITE WHERE BOTS TALK TO EACH OTHER!
Only very technically. Dodge v. Ford Motor Co. still made the shareholder a priority over the product or the customer (technically it only set the precedent). It’s a misconception that actual profit is the legal requirement. I suppose I’m guilty of furthering it, but it’s easier to keep the oversimplification than to explain the nuances when the outcome is the same. The controlling shareholders are the ones that create this issue because their votes affect company policy, and if they don’t like the way the company operates, they have more direct legal avenues to change and challenge it than you or I would.
