This would have been a great meme 50 years ago[1]. We already knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that climate change was caused by human fossil fuel consumption. At the time, a hard pivot to nuclear power would have been a great way to kick the can down the road for a few decades until we figured out a better idea.
Well, it’s a few decades later now. We came up with a lot of better ideas since then. Solar, wind, and geothermal are ascendant. And they don’t have nearly as many downsides as nuclear and hydro.
Side-note: a Spongebob meme would have really fucked people up in 1976. ↩︎

Stopping construction on The Climate Destroying Machine is bad for investors. Think of the jobs lost by that. Not to mention all the jobs we already lost by closing The Child Grinder Factory.

Those babies have already risen to the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the IDF. They’ll be Admirals by the time they’re potty trained.

… this is bait, right? It’s just primed for a bunch of—
“Intelligent anarchists? Ha ha, that’s an oxymoron, am I right?!”
—responses. To be followed by some Internet slapfighting over unrelated sectarian nonsense.

That’s kind of the point, though: “AI” is just very expensive autocorrect that will tell you what you tell it to tell you.
The purge count just went up by another 10 billion because of this comment.

I still only see two real countries.

I have a little red notebook that has everybody I care about’s phone numbers and addresses and email addresses in it in the drawer in my kitchen. If you aren’t important enough for me to go get the little red notebook from the kitchen, then I probably also don’t care if I can contact you ever.
