That’s one of the best feeling when using a Linux distro IMO - you have the power to do anything you want with what’s installed, but because the devs are people and not marketers or rent-seekers, you’re given a sane layout out of the box that feels comfortable.

You could try running your windows-locked programs via Wine, Proton, or a VM-based solution for the worst offenders on a Linux distro (unless your employer requires you to run windows on bare metal, and I give you my condolences).

The hardware is hardware, my guy. Most people running desktop linux are using hardware mainly comprised from the work of companies with shitty reputations.
GOS has a set of required specs to ensure the security it’s famous for, and the pixel happened to meet them due to their developer-focused design implementations. Luckily, Motorola can now see the economic opportunity of leaning into that as well.
That would be stripped out by the cracking team before release. The scene doesn’t forget to test things, you know (also many countries where cracked games are hosted/more prevalent are places where foreign copyright law doesn’t matter much).
I mean they cut out the middleman and you can just run x86 software on ARM with FEX (and by extension, windows-built games via proton).
I don’t see a future where a dedicated PC will become optional for the majority of PCVR titles, but I would imagine the wireless streaming tech valve’s already included into the headset should make it pretty painless if you’re already a PC gamer.

Used hardware exists man. Also Motorola is partnering with GrapheneOS for their upcoming hardware releases, so maybe when your device becomes obsolete in the future consider getting something with more customization at a (gasp) lower price and with better repairability/customization.
I understand tribalism isn’t good for anyone, but pointing out that there’s a better way than getting abused by the walled garden shouldn’t be taken as mocking.
I’d argue that it’s important to live in the present for these sorts of things. My phone running GrapheneOS isn’t going to start blasting ads or auto-installing bloatware during its lifespan, and since the monitors I possess have none of the “smart TV issues” I don’t need to worry about those for the lifespan of possessing the device.
Yes, the world will likely try to break GrapheneOS and make monitors just as much of a monetized hell. However, a free and open source operating system cannot be internally enshittified, and used/commodity hardware systems allow you to pick and choose something that doesn’t have ads spewing at your face.
Microsoft’s helping our case by blasting their own foot all the time, fortunately.

Theoretically? Although we’d need to do some testing first as a community before we confirm that’s the case (or build a solution to it).
During the “Gold Rush” era (Wild West 1800s), there were plenty of people descending onto California to try and make their fortunes by staking out land to mine and pan for gold.
However, the first millionaire wasn’t anyone who got lucky staking out a mine. It was the largest store owner in the area selling all these prospective miners their shovels to dig with.
The “AI industry” has a lot of parallels here, but everyone wants to be the store owner, and hardly anyone has a genuine need for their tools.
You can buy counter strike and tf2 defunct trading platform accounts that are decades old for pennies on the dollar.
A) You’ll have people selling their place in line, which means that those who can afford to take a large quantity of orders in advance can profit from the difference
B) It’s not exactly good PR to order something and having to wait a variable window of time for it to finally arive at your door (see almost all Bethesda merch incidents post Fallout NV)
C) Valve doesn’t operate like a dropshipper. There is no “white label” steam controller being made in china that they can slap their logo on and sell as soon as people order for it. They have to contract volume in advance, since it’s a bespoke product.
