This is good to know. It might have been my app, Blorp on F-Droid, that was the limiting factor for my image upload. Next time I’ll try the browser directly. Thanks for posting the stats!

Lemmy would only let me upload one photo and while I don’t upload galleries often, I know Imgur is not the way to go anymore. Is there a privacy-based free image hosting site I should be using?

This is true, the mic did not appear to be in series with anything critical since I did lift a trace in the Onn remote. When I looked at the board I saw how small and close together the traces were. I didn’t have the datasheet for the model of Mic I found on the board, so I just decided the remote was better without it entirely. It may not have been the most elegant solution but it did work. I will consider the razor blade option in the future once I get some leads that are both thin and sharp enough to pierce the small traces.

This is the mindset I had when I posted my procedure. While I could have gotten all three and de-soldered it properly, it isn’t something most people can do. I didn’t want my post technique to feel unapproachable by people with small tools and steady hands. Thanks for mentioning this since I forgot to!

I liked it at first because I thought it would let my bypass the horrendous on-screen keyboard. Then I learned that these things are likely recording even when the button isn’t pressed and I decided on this project. I’ll take garbage on-screen keyboard over eavesdropping remotes any day.

In the community post he advises that he, and others, looked into the controversy and decided that based on the moderation changes that they could work with Hyperland going forward. They also posted all of this publicly and discussed it rationally with their community. All of their donations are publicly available and they communicated the intent behind the donations: to help support ALL open source.
They didn’t play favorites, they didn’t backpedal on their reasoning and they showed transparency while supporting open source. I don’t understand the controversy here?

This is very important and deserves its own post. Resellers typically either don’t specify or don’t know if the bootloader is unlockable on a Pixel so the buyer has to find out for themselves. Sadly “Unlocked” in an eBay post often refers to the carrier rather than the bootloader. Thanks for mentioning this!

Didn’t realize this, thanks for letting me know.

Do people not like Organic Maps anymore? I used that for a long while but none of the people on here seem to recommend it. I will admit, it did handle street addresses poorly to certain locations. But it was much better than OsmAnd.

I posted about this in another thread, but “Exodus” made by Archetype studios, is comprised of some of the Mass Effect devs from Bioware and it comes out next year. It looks to do what Mass Effect did. I’ll support them for sure since they are a smaller studio trying to keep the spirit of Mass Effect alive even if it is with new characters and worlds.

Archetype Studios, which is comprised of some of the Ex-Bioware developers that worked on Mass Effect are making the game “Exodus” coming out next year. I will pick that up and support a smaller studio instead. It might be a little rough around the edges since they don’t have EA resources but it still seems to be sticking to the spirit of what made Mass Effect so good.

The nice thing about Linux is that you don’t have to use these niche distros. Windows users either had to deal or learn computer OS procedures to move on. I’m sure Shadowfetch will disappear into the ether soon enough.

Happy to see the discourse around this game finally calm down. I love it and anything I didn’t like I fixed with NexusMods. When the one thing I wanted to fix in the campaign wasn’t available I spent time making my own mod.
Bethesda games are always what you make them and for a open world space game with actual first-person RPG storylines and existing characters with lines of dialogue, it stands on its own.
Thank you for sharing this journey as I’ll be taking it soon to unlock a tablet. 🫡
