There are lots of different adjustable book holders on the market. Some of them can be adjusted for height and tilt. I would look into one of those. That way you can sit with proper posture in your favorite chair and read your book! Something like the LEVO G2 Floor Stand with Wheels book holder might be what you need for maximum adjustability.

politics @lemmy.world•AOC says Mitch McConnell should resign if he cannot provide health update
0·18 days agoAny company would have likely fired the guy for not showing up by now unless he submitted FMLA paperwork. This is one of the differences between regular working people and these government officials.

News@lemmy.world•Sam Neill, actor known for ‘Jurassic Park,’ dies at 78
0·29 days agoWhat a loss. Sam Neill was a great actor in every one of the movies I have seen him in. He will always be Dr. Grant or Merlin to me though.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•I am someone who works out daily and sweats a lot. Just doing laundry doesn't seem to adequately clean the underarms of my shirts. What are some ways to clean these areas of my clothing better?
0·1 month agoWhen I have issues with the underarms of my workout shirts coming out still discolored from sweat+deodorant, I like to take a small amount of laundry detergent = just enough to dampen the areas needing extra help. Then I put it in the washer, add my detergent for the load, with a presoak setting so the clothes all soak in the water and detergent for 15 minutes before the wash cycle actually starting.
I already came to Linux in November just to get away from unwanted programs that you cannot remove from taking up system resources. I cannot be happier with my snappy Linux Mint installation. This is the longest that I have run Linux since 2008 when I ran Ubuntu for a few months.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Starbucks CEO defends a cup of coffee costing $9English
0·3 months agoI’ll go to my local coffee shop if I want a good coffee experience. Starschmucks is a last effort if I am traveling and I really need coffee (think in the airport terminal), otherwise, I go without until I can get something affordable like a gas station with decent drip coffee or a coffee machine. These CEOs are so out of touch it isn’t even funny.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Would you keep seeing a doctor that required to you agree to the use of AI in your treatment to continue being a patient?
0·4 months agoMy GP is at a big medical center and the medical center coded their own internal AI transciptionist that listens to our conversations. It is sandboxed and only has access to internal systems. Overall, it saves my GP time and the notes are accurate. I asked a lot of questions when it first came out, and I think you should ask questions about it too.

0·6 months agoYeah, no. Companies don’t get to scan my face or ID. You know they are selling your data.
Makes me so glad I moved to Linux. Windows has just gotten worse and worse.
