Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Focusing all of my thoughts on a helmet that can block out mind-readersEnglish
0·3 days agoMaybe Magneto was onto something…

I just wish more games would tell you, “Your last save was X seconds ago.”
I love it because it tells me what I need to know and it’s relatively simple to program (i.e., note current time any time you save or load).

0·13 days agoThis is a bizarre claim. It appears to be based on a video in which a durian is briefly exposed to a 3300 degree torch. Anything more than that would obviously reduce the whole fruit to char.

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•windows is using steamOs as their gaming performance goalEnglish
0·16 days agoI have a very similar setup (Vive + 4070) working under Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. The only special workaround was to install Steam natively, downloading directly from Valve instead of using the Snap provided by Canonical. Aside from that, everything worked immediately right out of the box.

0·1 month agoIt’s “just a reorg” where they shut down all the research labs (which can’t be moved because they’re located by the forests they study) and hand leadership to pro-logging lobbyists.

0·1 month agoThey’re destroying more than fifty research facilities across thirty-one states, labs that house decades of irreplaceable long-term science, the kind you literally cannot restart once it’s gone. And they’re replacing all of it — the offices, the scientists, the institutional knowledge, the professional independence — with fifteen political appointees called “state directors,” embedded in state capitals alongside the very governors, legislators, and industry lobbyists who have spent their careers demanding that the Forest Service log more, protect less, and get out of the way.

At any given time T, the coordinates form a right triangle with legs of length 5T and T. Therefore the distance D is given by D^2 = (5T)^2 + T^2 = 26T^2. This simplifies to D = T * sqrt(26). Therefore the rate of separation is sqrt(26) ft/sec regardless of time
