ITT: people hating on touchscreens
Also ITT: people pointing out really good reasons to have a touch screen.

You have a right to remain silent but you don’t have a right to lie. This is super important legally. If you’re asked “what is your device pin” and you say nothing you’re OK, but if you say “my pin is 12345” and that’s actually your duress PIN then you can be in trouble for that.

OEM unlocked pixels are getting rare and expensive because of this. We need another solution. We need postmarketos to be brought up to usable

Where have you been for the past 500 years that you think laws weren’t just “made up” before that? Standing here absolutely slapping the “stolen land” sign

The thing with android lockdown is that it turns back off as soon as you unlock it. For something like going to an airport, I would go into settings and disable “use biometrics to unlock” under the biometric settings. Lockdown is more of an “oh shit” button, if you have the time to do it properly make it stick until you’re safe.

His ideas aren’t contradictory, they make perfect sense. He’s a Nazi, in the most literal sense of the word. He wants socialism for White people, endless abundance for the chosen few and endless suffering for anyone else.
Funny how it’s actually the opposite, parents offering too much control, rather than education and understanding, while delegating that education and care to The State and Capital that seeks to exploit, which leaves people unable to care for themselves.
That’s 2¹/5 to you!
Why settle? Software is a continually evolving ecosystem and grafting yourself to a certain distribution model or distribution team doesn’t really make sense when you consider that. Some distribution might have the best things for you, today. Tomorrow, another may come along and do it better, or your current distribution may shift to not be to your liking anymore. Be flexible, but don’t change for the sake of change. Change for a good reason.

Too poor to afford the theater but everyone’s talking about the latest movie.

This is what fascism is though. What you’re describing is being complicit in fascism.
That user might be in the slim minority but they do exist and I appreciate them taking that into account and taking seriously the security of people who aren’t super technical.

I don’t really know how popular that movie is with people who aren’t into subvertising… I don’t think it’s very popular, I don’t know if people will get the reference.
They make cars which run on hydrogen which you can get from water but that process is so inefficient they opt to get the hydrogen from natural gas instead thus defeating the entire purpose. Overall we have better tech now than “running a car on water” and doing that doesn’t help the bigger problem of unsustainable use of energy
