The end of 2026 might very well be a relatively amazing time to be. At. Hungary already showed the path.
edit funny that they have a party called “Religious Zionist”. Like none of the other parties were religious or zionist enough

0·2 days agoYeah, unfortunately they seem to be the only party who would actually do that. And even though I have some sympathy towards small-l-libertarianism, too many of the capital-l-libertarians are batshit crazy, dumb or both.

0·2 days agoTrump will be kicked out, I’m 95% sure of that. But Americans will have to rethink the role and authority of the president quite soon after that. And I mean limiting it.

World News@lemmy.world•Viktor Orbán concedes defeat as Hungary's Tisza Party heads for election winEnglish
0·4 days agoFunnily enough, the wikipedia page for conservative liberalism (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservative_liberalism) lists Fidesz as the prime and only example of Hungarian conservative liberal parties.
It’s fascinating how they were able to blockade something in 3d space with something that looked a lot like a 2d structure. Must be some Liu Cixin kind of shit going on there.

World News@lemmy.world•Viktor Orbán concedes defeat as Hungary's Tisza Party heads for election winEnglish
0·4 days agohis ideology is more or less identical to Orban’s
Fidesz (Orban):
- Ideology: Christian Nationalism, Illiberalism, Authoritarianism, National Conservatism, Right-wing Populism
- Political position: Far-right
Tisza (Magyar):
- Ideology: Conservative Liberalism, Populism, Pro-Europeanism
- Political position: Centre to centre-right
I’ve heard this angle before, but these parties don’t seem to be in any way identical.

0·4 days agoIn the back of my head, I’m slightly worried when a European country has a party that has more than 50% of the seats. We’re supposed to not be two-party systems.
But on every other part of my head, this feels great. Good stuff, hungarians! I wish I had free money to invest into Hungary. Seems like a safe bet right now.

Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•Discussing Gender is Good for Trans People (Like Me)English
0·4 days agoI guess the thinking is that it’s a delusion, and if you’re calling them the gender they want, you are enabling the delusion. That it’s more important to try to correct them than protect their feelings.
I’m not sure, but I’m guessing this wouldn’t be the correct tactic even if it was a delusion.

That’s not quite what I’m rooting for here.
