There are numerous benefits to exercise you can focus on. I fucking hate exercising but I do it consistently because I love the things I get out of it.

Yeap… The only thing I love about exercising is getting to leave the gym. I still do it 4 times a week because I don’t want to die young of diabetes or heart disease.

That’s why I tell people not to wait for motivation. Most won’t be able to stick to it doing that. You just have to do it. Force yourself. If you feel extra shitty on a day start off easier and go from there but at least do something. Often once you get going you’ll get back into the groove. If going to the gym is screwing you up, workout at home instead. You can accomplish a lot with just your bodyweight and dumbbells. Just find what works for you. The benefits are worth it.

I think the hard thing is that when people think of benefits they’re looking for something akin to a runners high or like a post workout glow.

For me it’s always felt not fun, and secretly think the idea of a runners high is a psyop to get you to join someone’s running club.

I think people need to realize that the majority of the benefits are just as simple as maintaining mobility and offsetting some of the worse parts of aging.

Yeah, I always think about that clip of Arnold talking about how working out feels like cumming to him. I’m like, no wonder you look like that then …

For me it got rid of all the stupid back pain I was having and just made me more fit in general. I helped a friend of mine move a bunch of wood a few weeks ago and between four of us I did probably 75% of the actual work. I was beat to hell at the end of the day but it was a pretty clear demonstration of what I was getting out of staying in shape. Also I get compliments fairly often about my physique which is nice. Sometimes they even come from women.
