It’s simpler than that. To them, “communists” and “socialists” are the same, and it’s anyone that doesn’t think businesses should be able to do anything they want, and any person non-conforming to their personal view of “normal” isn’t even human. While most will not, some will even admit both of those publicly.

The American Fascist Right was clearly on the wrong side when they publicly called Mister Rogers an “evil, evil man” back in 2007 (notably, 4 years after his death).
