Have the day you voted for ya cunts
Oh no, a State that historically cares little about climate change science, prevention and its effects is feeling their own petard being hoisted. My heart bleeds.
My family and I still lives here.
Attempts to leave have been dashed.
Lots of progressive and active people here intentionally dimmished.
If only we had more support from our fellow country people. Its so frustrating seeing Florida as the butt of so many jokes when down on the ground i see all the people so desperatly passionate and overlooked and suffering.
Whatever, tell me im shit and i deserve the climate disasters, and disrepresentation, and im sure coming destruction. Ive only been trying to change the system here my entire life.
Maybe were all doomed and its blessing to be murked by the gestapo or the next hurricane or wildfire or drought before the rest of us do.
Fuck this. My family cant leave. My friends cant leave. I cant leave. Ive just got to survive and be the cockaroach that persists. And its so displeasing to know that my fellow country people do not support helping a fellow state and its citizens.
Florida has many talents and abilities and good people - its all being squandered and abandoned. You could be helping us, further pushing unity. Instead you curse us. When florida falls, how much further down the chain of events fo you think your locale will fall? Thats on you, and your crocodile tear heart.
Right back at you, Good luck.
Nobody ever means this towards the people that are trying to change the system - but you’re the minority. Don’t take it as a personal insult to you unless you’re doing absolutely nothing to change the minds of others too. But fear not that everyone will still help when you sink. We’re just sick of the majority of Floridians who perpetuate their own downfall and that of the US.
Onto your other point: Why can’t you leave if you so desperately want to? People are walking from Honduras to the US. People are taking small boats and crossing the Mediterranean. If you really wanted to leave you could. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy but nothing worth doing in life ever is. Do you have a car? Do buses exist? If so, you’ve got far more options. You literally live in the same country and have every right and capability to live in every other state. Who is telling you that you can’t leave, because you literally can. Your forebears moved to Florida for a better life. You can do the same by leaving. Will you lose some friends and family, yes, and that’s the hardest part. But anyone who actually wants the best for you will support your decision. Be wary of those who don’t (including parents) - they will just try to drag you back into the swamp so they’re not drowning alone.
But if you want to stay (and that IS the most noble thing in my opinion) be the change you want to see. Encourage others to vote for climate activists, spread the word, help others to build them up too, be a community activist yourself. Don’t be one of those people who do nothing and are then shocked that nothing changes.
