Assuming time, money, living situation, and the law wasn’t a factor. I’d love a skunk. I’d name her Oreo and i’d love her and she’d be my best friend.

A giraffe. Because it’s a giraffe, I believe no further explanation should be necessary.

i’d like a parrot or toucan if it had enough freedom. Unfortunately I don’t think you can let them fly around by themselves without them leaving you forever or becoming an invasive species. Very region dependant pet.

Honestly gotta have cats though. They’re so much fun and they take good care of themselves. I would similarly only have a cat if i had a big garden for it

birds are actually higher maintenance than dogs and cats, more medical costs since you would probably need a vet specializing in birds. also the more exotic the bird the higher the cost, probably cant get toucan or even most macaw species from an ethical source. because of the birds unique respiratory system they would be susceptible to whatever pollution or things you spray in the house.

Cats and dogs are the best pets but I also make sure to be nice to the crows; and if I could have any group of working animals I would love to have a flock of vultures to rent out to clean up dead animals.

I also often wish for a shoebox sheep, a couple of sheep as small as a very small dogs, as lawnmowers.

I got to meet a couple capybaras on a cruise excursion. At one point someone in the crowd got rowdy and upset the male, who had to huddle in a corner and stare at a wall to calm down.

It was sad that we made him uncomfortable, but also pretty cute to watch him sulk.

Pangolin, maybe? It’s probably as close as one could get to a pet draco vulgaris.

Capybara are actually supposed to be already pretty cool. Some selective breeding might make them even cooler.

    Sloth could be interesting.

There are some aquaria that would be unrealistic to own now but if there were no limits it’d be interesting to have some of the deep sea creatures.

But also, really, if money, time, etc. were no issue, I’d probably take over an entire american state to build an enormous shelter/kennel/animal hospital/rescue centre for the lost, abandoned, unhoused, or otherwise uncared for pets of the world.

A senator. They’re apparently a great ROI if you can afford one.

I know here in Canada it’s illegal to own a skunk, but there are places you can get them “de-stinked” and have as a pet. They supposedly can be pretty chill too if they’re domesticated and not wild.

Be better than a guard dog too IMO. Someone comes on your yard and sees a fart cat they’re not going to want to get out of their car.
