If he got a Vance pardon, that’s exactly when I’d expect him to do it. He’s just narcissistic enough to be like “Ha! I won and you losers lost. Here’s all the names of the people who were fucking kids right alongside me, but I got pardoned and I’m untouchable. Good luck, losers.”
There is no world in which trump trusts someone to protect him AFTER he gives up his power. Because he backstabs everyone the second they aren’t useful to him.
Generally, I completely agree, but if his back is to the wall and this is the only way out, I could see it happening. He had to know that as soon as he’s out of office, he’s going to be absolutely fucked.
