    That’s not how the US works. Servers hourly wages paid by the company are dictated by law. In many states in the US the wage is $2.13 and hour.

      Server wages are $2.13 an hour plus tips. If their tips plus wage don’t equal min wage for their hours worked the employer has to pay the balance so that their monetary earnings are equal to min wage. Servers like tips b/c they earn more than min wage off them, but they also wouldn’t need tips if they were paid an actual decent wage.

        I’m aware, my point that it should be on the employer to compensate their staff fairly without relying on additional compensation from customers.
