I know but I encounter the word swap only there and its annoying

I dislike swap solely because it gets used and when I accidentally open the same file twice then I regularly encounter problems with swap files when opening the file again later.

0·3 days agoI haven’t used godot, so I only have some surface knowledge of it. One thing being that there are nodes, and that they are quite a powerful tool. Maybe these nodes can store some functions, in which case you only need to be able to write a function, but the structure and overall concept are not reliant on code (MAYBE, I do not know).
but op was mentioning love2d, which I have tried and it is only a framework based on the lua language. if you want to create an object, you have to code it. Which is why I refered op to an actual game engine which implements features to reduce the complexity of coding, being able to draw an object or node or whatever and give it function x as a property is way easier than using a framework.
Godot only needing code for optimization is just oversimplefied and not actually me knowing the engine. As far as I know the nodes lack performance compared to optimized code for the same task

0·4 days agoI am not too deep into the topic but I’d suggest like any game engine over a framework like love2d. Isnt godot like only dependant on coding for optimization (fact check me on this one)? If you want to stick with lua there are also a few options for game engines

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do people even mean by "If you don't use AI, you'll fall behind"?
0·7 days agoI hate AI, but still use it from time to time when 3+ searches would yield no result, or I am already quite adapt to a topic and just want some stupid research work done by a web scraper tool, or when searching on brave search and I just search for a command in bash or something like that on a topic where I don’t currently want to learn (maybe because of a deadline). I am inpatient at the moment, pressed for time and still want to try new things. It’s a faster search engine for me right now because search engines and wesites became infested with SEO, bots and AI slop, at least I get to control the answers a bit better

0·10 days agoI am kinda glad, I had a mindset shift at like 17 to just live to entertain myself and after that I found some neurodivergent folks at my school at the time and had the time of my life. Before that were some major depressions and social circles that didn’t enjoy my presence (and I didn’t enjoy theirs too!). It makes a huge difference if there are people near you who do vocal stimming with you lmao

Linux@lemmy.ml•I fucked up my PC trying to install Linux and I'd like to freshly install a more compatible Linux for an older computer
0·11 days agoYou are just able to say that because you spend 100+$ on the pre-installed OS. You could also spend the same amount for an IT person to install you linux and then have a very stable time anyways. Linux doesn’t force you to update, if something breaks you don’t need to interact with it. On many distros there are system backups preconfigured, if something breaks you can roll back pretty easily. There is a trade-off, ease of use and ease of fix. Linux is way easier to use, thanks to no bloat and package manager, but slightly harder to fix when a problem occurs, because you have to interact with the system. And to be honest, the system isn’t as scary. Documentation is often enough, but if you are lazy and want the fix currated there is AI to help you.

ADHD@lemmy.world•Extreme Task Advoidance and the Capacity ModelEnglish
0·13 days agoI have seasonal mood shifts which could be adhd related. I am not too sure because alot of my lack of energy came from wrong nutrition and migraine + brain fog and I finally found something that helps. Its fresh food. I have tyramine intolerance I think and my energy levels increased a lot. I think there was a correlation between migraine, adhd, parkinson and depression, so look into it and maybe try a diet for 1-2 weeks? Its annoying af because like no beans, cheese, sausage nor processed foods leave little protein except fresh meat. Also vitamine d the whole year.
Ironically I switched off of ddg to brave search because I wanted to block more than 5 AI embracing websites. I haven’t yet tested it thoroughly yet because AI overviews were quite helpful the last month for syntax questions and that were all my searches, but now I want (and am able) to test brave search without AI and with weights to curate my search.

0·26 days agoIsn’t mint the most used distro after like catchyos?
I use nvim/ vim just because i was new and didn’t know anything I could edit on an ssh connection with beside vim. And it isn’t that hard, using lazyvim atm (still new and dont have time to configure myself) and if I can just use the mouse if I am too stupid, not that hard. But it get more and more convenient as time goes on. You encounter enough times and just think to yourself “is there a better way?” and most of the time there is! Just start with “i”, “<Esc>” and “:wq”.
