Haha, I was selling a whole racing chair/wheel/shifter combo for my partner’s dad and he got it for the PS3, so it came with around 10 games. I used dirt to test it, ended up deciding to keep it for myself in the end.
BUT my account and downloaded games also worked, because I didn’t hook it up to the Internet (which after reading this I shall never do).
That shit should be illegal. They should be charged with theft and treated accordingly, or at the least get the shit kicked out of them; the way we used to treat thieves in the good old days.
I haven’t used my PS2 in about 20 years, and know for a fact that I could hook it up and play Jak and Daxter today with a single hdmi adapter.

I have pirated copies of Sierra online games from the 80s and some of them have saves made by the first person who uploaded them. Who were those people? No idea. But I would LOVE to know where they are now.

If the PSN account was deleted, this is less a PS3 issue and more a digital software licensing issue.
i would say that it’s a PS3 issue due to being dependent on licensing issues prevent a user from playing games they own
But the PS3 isn’t preventing them. The fact that their PSN account is deleted is preventing them. I can play my games on my PS3 still.

I bought my NES with my own money in 1988ish after saving up for months. If I go downstairs and power it on right now, I’m certain Tetris will fire right up.
I am less certain. Cartridges dont exactly age well. I had enough trouble with them in the 90s.
I dont mean to defend not owning our games, just saying cartridges were not perfect either.
I’ve had the batteries die in carts with save functionality but I’ve never had a cartridge itself stop working. Maybe I’ve been lucky.
Those carts are made to last. The bits on those ROMs will outlast DVDs burned decades later.
Paradoxically, I’ll open GOG to replay Riven or Ultima Underworld, and I’ll find my last save, and feel silly seeing the last place I got stuck.

I have enough content in emulators alone that it would be pretty damn easy to just stop buying consoles and big studio titles entirely. Which I guess I’ve kind of done already.
Hell even if you forbid old PC games, my AuDHD ass could bounce between Chrono Trigger and Symphony of the Night for years.
