The world will celebrate unlike anything we’ve seen in our lifetimes. I almost compared it to Bin Laden being killed, but that was primarily an American celebration. This fuck’s death will be a global celebration.

That means it’ll get shoved down the throats of every disgusting MAGAt piece of shit in the country because it’ll be too big to ignore. Which means they’ll get all snowflakey and butthurt and that’ll drive them to the polls to vote for whatever disgusting filth the GOP comes up with next. Probably just more bigotry.

But they were going to do that anyway.

There’s no reason to hold back our joy for the benefit of low IQ fascist traitors. They’re stupid bigots. Which means they were always going to make the wrong decisions, whether we were nice to them or not. And it’s wrong to be nice and tolerate of mean, ignorant pieces of shit.

I’ll be in the streets, banging pots and pans and singing songs.

I think the dead should be allowed to reap the respect they earned in life.
In some cases that means you intentionally got to get infected by dysentery just to be able to almost shit enough on their grave.

I take a massive issue with how society says that as soon as someone is dead we have to forgive that person and we can’t speak ill of them.

Fuck that, if that person was a piece of shit in life. I am going to remember them as a piece of shit in death.

    Agreed.

There was a famous case in France several years ago, around the freshly dead heinous monster named Jean-Marie Le Pen. His “orator talents” were praised after his death, both by dominant media and dominant politicians, including supposed to be ennemies with him and his legacy. Those who still publicly stood against him and his legacy were told to rospect the dead and were vilified. But as some members of communities he targeted said: “I will respect him in death like he respected us while alive.”

The man was a white national-supremacist with ties to the OG nazis. Racist, imperialist, xenophobe, LGBT-phobe, redheaded-phobe(?), … He very probably participated with enthousiasm in torture and other mass crimes from the french side during Algeria’s independence war. (Also, colonialisation is a mass crime in itself.)

So yeah, fuck forced reverence. This guy was a hateful mass criminal, and his death didn’t change this fact.

I like to think we should celebrate like the massive crowd outside Florida State prison in 1989 for Ted Bundy’s execution. No one mourned the execution of that monster or spoke well of him after he fried. Same for them.

If we’re talking about D.J. Trump, then I’m pretty sure we can expect at least some sighs of relief in many countries, but not from those in power. This guy is a nuisance for more than just the USA, because of the USA’s geopolitical dominant position, and also because of the international networking between supremacist leaders and similar.

          Only a brief one.

We know that Trump is only the chaotic mouthpiece for a much larger and much more problematic power structure in the USA.

A power structure that has been quietly and increasingly fucking the rest of us for decades. Trump simply ripped the mask off and got loud about it.

Not just in the USA. All around the world, mainly among the self proclaimed “(representative) democraties”, which are many countries. (The openly authoritarian regimes are already authoritarian, but can still progress toward more intolerance.)

And yes Trump, while himself being the symptom of these systems current state, has acted as a catalyst for the march toward hateful authorianism.

Nope, they should be as infamous and notable as other historical shitheads. I want there to be fucking books about their evil and corruption, detailing all the fucked up shit they’ve done, all the obvious evidence that they were doing it, and then linking every business and person that supported them doing it at the time.

They are a stain that can’t be removed from history, but a tiny smudge on the vast nimber individuals and corporations that backed them. That needs to change.

There are always going to be hitler simps. Humanity is diverse enough that some percentage of the population will be fucked up in the head enough to think that genital herpes is a divine gift. You’re never going to influence those people. The goal is to make the everyday man level with the fact that they voted 3 times to have concentration camps and unparalleled corruption in this country. They should never be able to forget it, they should have to live with the shame of those decisions for the rest of their lives. Most of the people involved in this aren’t monsters, they were just fearful little morons, and they need to fucking know it so that they can try to do better next time.

I hear you on the level of history should emphasize a “look at what we allowed” rhetoric to instill some semblance of public shame to curtail future behaviour. I just think it’s at odds with the reality in which history is read; namely the “look at what these specific villains did, and were they justified” as a form of absolving ourselves and humanizing said villains.

If we’re going to scapegoat, might as well not draw attention to it at all IMO

Let’s change that. Don’t let magats and trump supporting orgs off the hook this time. Make them lie in the bed they made, just once, and let’s see if it works out differently.

Example - one of his comments: Also - Trump hasn’t been as bad as claimed. He has mostly been what I expected for 12 years. Mostly ineffectual and inconsequential. Undeserving of the attention he is given.

They’re fascists currently in control and making progress toward turning America into a Christofascist nation.

There are many issues, but they are definitely our primary issue right now. An immediate threat to our nation and democracy as a whole. They must be dealt with. Their cult leader dying and making their cult splinter into smaller, less dangerous pieces is the preferable way.

Then we can focus on dealing with the very clear problem with education in this country.
