Depends if you are talking about the novels or the TV series (or though the former is still considerably newer than Star Wars). The TV series was very influential on modern TV and spawned a whole generation of “Game of Thones-like” gritty and violent historical dramas. It also popularised the trope of no character being safe from a violent twist.
Well I’m definitely talking about the novels cuz you don’t publish a TV series. But what either one has to do with being newer than Star Wars I’m not sure. That’s not the point of this post y’all know that right?
It’s exactly the point. “A new Star Wars or Marvel within our lifetime” was the prediction, and we’re arguing that one such example has already existed. Unless you are a child and weren’t alive/conscious and therefore don’t consider it within your lifetime?
Exactly how are you reading that wrong? A new Star Wars or Marvel. A new massive universe. As the next sentence you didn’t quote says , something new and original not based on existing properties. Not specifically those two things. They’re just examples. This is basic reading comprehension.
Oh buddy. In a discussion about basic reading comprehension you’re confused because not everything’s literally spelled out and you had to comprehend a message. I mean ouch.
Game of Thrones?
It’s not really new is it? Was published in the 90s I believe.

Please screenshot the bit where it says “a new massive universe”.

So that’s a no…? You can’t?
