I agree with you that our system needs to focus more on progress, ecology and humanity. An ideal country ought to have policies where these are the paramount foci. But we don’t live in that ideal society sadly, as we’re a bunch of humans. Without incentive, we don’t make things happen as individuals or as a collective. We need to make that money so we can have good things again. People won’t do much for free, and money is still the best reward for effort, regardless of its value to you. That money opens up more options for a future government that’s more in line with what we’d both like to see.

It sounds like you’re taking about a homeless person with a debilitating mental health issue, but there are many unemployed who have employable skills that would benefit from this news. The homeless people with these mental issues will never be employable regardless of the economy, so I think you need to figure out what you’re trying to argue here.

I feel like this is a really hard topic to talk about. Ramping up production of oil is bad for the environment, but good for the economy. I looked it up and Canada generated approximately 6.3% of all the oil in the world in the past year. Is most of that being used as fuel? Sure. About 90-95% is used as fuel with the rest being used to make plastic and other derivatives.

But here’s the thing. Canada is in a recession thanks primarily to our neighbor to the south. We need to find new sources of revenue or people start losing everything. It’s so easy to say oil bad when you have a secure job, but not everyone does. Carney’s job is not to do what’s right for the world, but what’s right for his fellow countrymen and women.

Do I like that there will be more burning of fuel? Absolutely not. Do I like that my Canadian peers will be able to stave off poverty for longer due to more oil being harvested? Absolutely. The choice sucks, but the alternative is arguably worse for Canadians in a global economy that doesn’t care for their comforts.

I think we need to confront a hard truth as Canadians and stop whining about oil production: it’s better to burn to death on a full stomach than an empty one.

What would really grind Sony’s gears is if everyone stops updating their system and waits for the PS5 Linux hacks to catch up to their firmware version. Then, they install Linux and get Steam working and only buy digital games from Steam and GOG, or emulate older games, on their Linux hacked PS5.

When you commented on the Japanese deserving to be bombed, no the individuals did not. Did Japan deserve to be bombed? Yes, just not with atomic weapons. Similarly, do all Americans deserve to suffer? No. Does America? Absolutely. The fact that you can’t understand that who your country is internationally is who you the American citizen are, just further lends weight to my argument.

You’re supposed to apologize for drinking the American superiority Kool aid, accept responsibility for the choices your country makes nationally and internationally, and then start making sacrifices in your life that will remedy the situation.

If you cannot do this, then yes, you are an enabler and deserve all this negativity.

There’s a very easily way to rid society of these. Buy a pair of glasses and follow politicians and their families around and post constant updates about them on social media.

This person is right. All of America is MAGA in the eyes of the world. It will continue to be MAGA until it revolts and crushes their leaders and their families and their businesses and their way of life. Until then, every American is MAGA or a coward, and I honestly don’t know which is worse.

Even better would be to buy their systems (used) and then install Linux with Steam and emulators, so you can play Steam games and any retro game up to PS3 on your PS4 and PS5. I am currently trying to do this to my PS4 as I write this, but am running into challenges as I am not the most tech savvy, but it can be done! The more people in on this, the easier it becomes. Stop updating your system software today.

Great. Technology developed by the Israelis. I would love to see them try to do something positive for the world for a change.

And why should it? I’m not interested in paying for this. Nature will do as it will and we all need to be smart about how we interact with it. It sounds like this guy has had 60 years to do something about it and didn’t. The money to help him is better spent on green initiatives that will prevent this from happening to more people.
