But it is a federation for the sport American football. I know there are teams for it all over, but it’s still American football they’re playing, not just football. For example, Finnish national American football team. There’s also a national football team who do not play American football.
This is a bit reductionist. There are plenty of countries around the world where “football” doesn’t refer to soccer (i.e. any country with a large national football code, gridiron, or rugby)… Australia, new Zealand, South Africa, Pacific islands, Ireland, etc…
