Let’s fucking go
Delay. Deny. Depose.

vice president
Larger companies have hundreds to thousands of them. Nothing to get excited about.
I used to work for Comcast at their HQ in Philly. It was more noteworthy to meet somebody who wasn’t a vice president.
yeah and some of them are tossed around like candy. seriously my last job people who would not even be a division had the title. it was like the easiest thing to get beyond middle management.
Paywalled
you dropped the SSL and it wouldn’t redirect for me, here’s with SSL.
Infinite
on corporate America. She was a vice president of business selection and conflicts at the bank. Not The vice president of the bank.
Before anyone gets too excited.
She was a vice president of business selection and conflicts
She was a specialist in “conflicts” and she got conflict there in Times Square. Failed to resolve the conflict miserably.
Banks haven’t yet rolled out close quarter combat training for their executive tier
“your fruit killing skills are remarkable”
What if someone charges at you with a banana?
or a pointed stick
That would be pretty bananas…
b-a-n-a-n-a-s
It was a very sharp mango, general.
From what I was able to discern, the CEO of UHC was really just a nepo frat boy selected by the board. He had no special skill or talent, other than looking like another white man in a suit and selecting multiple choice answers about what to do in the company.
Straight from Central Casting, if you will.
What exactly do you think the CEOs of large corps do? Make sound decisions based on their experience in the trenches of their industry? Ha! Their entire role is to be a frat boy, party (aka “network”) with other CEOs, allow the board/private equity to make dumbass decisions that’ll tank the company, then take the fall when those decisions inevitably lead to problems. Nepo baby is a legit resume booster because it means you were born with more connections than most people will ever have.
I’ve worked with a lot of CEOs and while a lot of them are as you describe, many of them are smart and have a good handle on what their company does. And too many of them are afflicted with varying degrees of sociopathy.
Worked with CEOs of what size companies? Small business CEOs definitely need to know their shit and put in the work. Enterprise CEOs need to look good in press conferences and have books full of billionaires.
To add to this, she might have been just another cog. I don’t know how BofA titles work, but I have known people with a VP title that had no one reporting to them and had no decision making authority.
It’s an assumption going back decades, AFAIK, that someone with the title “vice president” in finance/banking doesn’t mean jack squat.
Not going to lie, still a little excited… One down, several thousand to go… (just at BofA)
BofA deez nuts
Hey, gotta start somewhere.
From what I’ve heard of this story, a woman who had a history of mental issues stabbed a random man getting out of the subway and then went and stabbed this woman. Her position at a bank is nothing more than attention grabbing headlines.
Saw it. Felt like this was suicide by cop.
Felt like this was suicide by cop.
Don’t those usually go for the cop instead of killing randos?

It’s important to remember that banks hand out vice president titles like business cards. It makes the vice president feel important and gives customers someone with a splashy title to yell at.
Lol I was literally today just dealing with a bank integration at work and noticed the tech support guy I was working with was a VP. Your comment was perfectly times for me, because I was like "wtf why is the guy talking to me about PGP keys a freaking Vice President?!”

This is soothing to look at. I need the original hanging in my place.
Seems to be a thing with american businesses in general. Everyone’s some VP of something
Only in finance. In other sectors, titles are less inflated.
was american psycho a documentary?
Idiocracy was too
The book mentions donnie multiple times, and yes.
Yes
Yep, came here to say this, and can confirm. Having the title “vice president” in finance / banking means just about sweet fuck-all.
It was literally done because certain tasks were required by regulations to be approved by a vice president, so banks just handed out the VP title to everyone and their brother.
Also banks give titles without pay raises.
Isn’t that how it works though? You have the president, and then multiple vice presidents with their own responsibilities? Vice president of lending, vice president of marketing, etc?
Yes, but banks go the extreme and hand out the title like candy. It’s way easier to become a VP at a bank than other companies.
Do banks even give out candy anymore? It’s a sad day when the only Dum-Dums at the company are wearing suits.
My credit union has free ice cream bars during the summer and a hot cocoa machine during the winter.
Haven’t seen a corporate bank with so much as a bowl of suckers for years.
30% of Goldman Sachs employees have a Vice President title
I’m pretty sure at BofA, it’s not that high level
A manager manages a small team, a director manages several managers, and then a vice president manages directors. They usually have ~100 people under them, but it can vary widely

Luigi time

Witnesses flagged down nearby officers, who confronted Cisneros between West 42nd and 43rd streets while she was still holding both knives
You remember those playing cards that were popular in the early 00’s? The ones that were given to US Troops in Afghanistan or Iraq or whichever country W was mad at at the time…with the pictures of Taliban leadership?
That was a pretty cool idea.
We should bring something like that back, but so that people can recognize some of the most powerful people in public.
Not so that they can hurt them, obviously, I wouldn’t endorse that.
Just to make sure that if somebody were to hurt them, they make sure not to fucking see it
We don’t have to be limited to 52 either. We can do different sets for different industries. Banking, housing, medical, pharma, fucking FedEx, whatever. Be a big collectible. Great holiday gift for anyone who is 3 months closer to poverty than they are to prosperity.
I thought somebody did that already. Didn’t that happen after Luigi?

Vuce president = middle manager
The title has lost most meaning it used to have. This is just a random killing
A tad above middle typically… it’s generally already within executive / leadership realm that the title exists.
It’s an American bank, they’re like 30% vice presidents. And that’s when you include bank tellers in the branches, not just the corporate side. I suspect it’s more like 50% vice presidents if you go to the main office.
Sept 1 (Reuters) - A Bank of America (BAC.N), opens new tab vice president was killed in a stabbing in New York City’s Times Square on Monday, sending a shock wave through the bank after the random incident took place in broad daylight in the heart of the city’s tourist industry. Erin Piacenti, 32, was a vice president in BofA’s business selection and conflicts unit, according to her LinkedIn profile. The NYPD said that the suspect was a woman with a history of mental health issues.
Probably was exactly as described, but I still question anything cops say, especially NYPD. There’s a chance they killed her to prevent discovery that this wasn’t a random event, to avoid another Luigi situation. Not a big chance, but a chance. Ten years ago, I would have scoffed at such a suggestion, now I’m making it myself.
such a clickbait of a headline. might as well have just said “random middle manager killed in New York”
