Where is everyone finding these people? I live in an overwhelmingly conservative area and family, and most of them just…don’t care. Or just don’t pay attention. My Mom told me it’s socialist propaganda that the “cost of living is going up” because there’s “enough socialism that everyone can get fed fine”. shoot me.

They hear stuff from the Conservative Propaganda Machine, and they think it makes sense, because those people are good at making nonsense sound plausible.

But later, when they try to repeat the revelations that they had earlier, all they can do is spew some buzzwords and phrases, like Socialism Bad.

Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.

      That’s MAGA.

        Not even that

Magats are just pro fascism, period. They WANT fascism because in their heads, a fascist government would support THEM and allow them to mistreat and attack those they dont like.

Now that they’re finding out that a fascist government will just mistreat and attack everyone including them, they got buyers remorse

But make no mistake; given the chance, they would fuck everyone over. Magats are just narcissists with psychopathic tendencies.

It turns out the actual values they were protecting the whole time was impunity for the privileged. It was never about anything else and now that we know that we should stop pretended otherwise. There’s nothing good about social conservative values and we don’t have to respect those values are the people who are advocating for them.

The only thing conservative I’ve seen out of this administration is lack of abortion, and removing LGBT rights, everything else is authoritarian which is not conservative.

Conservatives tend to make room for the libertarian right, that room is now gone.

The right has always preferred the rule of the few over the many, ever since the days of colonial America and the Loyalists. First, the rule of the King of England. Then, opposing slaves’ rights. Then, opposing women’s suffrage. It has pretty much always been their opinion that the powerless are powerless because they deserve it.

On the contrary: MAGA is the truest expression of conservatism the US has ever had.

Craving to be subjugated and ruled by a dictator is and always was what conservatism has been about, all the way back to literal monarchists Burke and de Maistre. Any other definitions about “conserving” or whatever are just lies they tell to bullshit their marks.

Only in America is it considered “conservative” to overturn years of laws and policies and to strive to return to the 1800 “gilded age” or whatever.

Anywhere else in the world, this is correctly described as regressive.

      Only in America

Sadly this part isn’t true. If you want to find a hateful regressive, you only need to look to the right-wing parties in many countries. Sure, there are a few regressives in the fringe left-wing parties too, but the political right has a far more mainstream problem, worldwide.

And it seems like a handful of the party faithful might be waking up to that fact.

They generally share quite a bit of policy with the conservative party though. And where there are politicians changing parties in order to follow the gravy train (rather than the party itself moving right), it’s often from a conservative party to an up-and-coming even-further-right party.

Basically, love of money and sticking the boot in to those who don’t have it.

It has been extremely entertaining to watch that sub recently.

There are signs of intelligent life in the comments, almost always followed up by some variant of “what’s up, fellow conservative” where other users doubt the first’s conservativeness conservativity because of too much critical thinking.

Many posts bemoan censorship by the “Democrat” party while their comment threads sit mostly empty, save for the few MAGA-friendly word vomits that the mods have allowed.

Someone should run an analysis looking at how many posts critical of Der Trumper have been allowed since the Iran war started. There used to be significant numbers of posts about Epstein supported by comments from folks who said they had pitchforks in their hands. It seemed like it might be the issue that broke MAGA. Once there was a military operation, it seems like they’re all too transfixed to care about those ever-important principles anymore.

But who could have seen it coming? Well, anyone who has watched right-wing reactions at any point in the last 50 years. Nuclear levels of energy, followed by goldfish levels of memory, all further limited by pet rock Kid Rock levels of thought.
